Teriyaki Chicken Bowl
Teriyaki Chicken Bowl is a flavorful and satisfying Japanese-inspired meal made with tender chicken coated in a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce, served over fluffy steamed rice with fresh vegetables. Ingredients
500g boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
4 cups cooked steamed rice
1 cup broccoli florets
1 medium carrot, thinly sliced
1/2 cup bell pepper, sliced
2 tbsp cooking oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water, for cornstarch mixture
1 tbsp sesame seeds, for garnish
2 spring onions, chopped
Directions
- In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and 2 tablespoons of water. Mix well and set aside.
- Heat the cooking oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked.
- Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the chicken. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water until smooth. Pour it into the pan while stirring continuously.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes, or until the teriyaki sauce thickens and coats the chicken with a glossy glaze.
- Meanwhile, steam or lightly stir-fry the broccoli, carrots, and bell peppers until tender-crisp.
- Divide the steamed rice among four serving bowls. Arrange the cooked vegetables and teriyaki chicken over the rice.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions. Serve hot and enjoy your flavorful Teriyaki Chicken Bowl!
