Ingredients
500g spaghetti
500g ground beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium carrot, finely diced
1 celery stalk, finely diced
2 cups tomato sauce
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 cup beef broth
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar (optional)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh parsley or basil, for garnish (optional)
Directions
- Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain and set aside.
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Sauté the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery for 3–5 minutes until softened and fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
- Stir in the tomato paste, tomato sauce, beef broth, oregano, basil, salt, and ground black pepper. Add sugar if desired to balance the acidity.
- Bring the sauce to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavorful.
- Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss until evenly coated. Add a little reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
- Transfer to a serving plate and top with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley or basil.
- Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Spaghetti Bolognese!
