Ingredients
500g ground beef
4 hamburger buns
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 small green bell pepper, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup tomato sauce
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp yellow mustard
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp cooking oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
Directions
- Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess oil if needed.
- Add the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, and water. Stir well until all the ingredients are combined.
- Season with salt and ground black pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Reduce the heat and cook uncovered for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
- Lightly toast the hamburger buns in a clean pan or toaster. Add a slice of cheddar cheese to the bottom bun if desired.
- Spoon the hot beef mixture generously onto each bun and cover with the top bun.
